Gustav Stickley Rocker #2625 and Chair #2626

The rocker is pegged, the chair is not. Both have caned seat supports.  The photo above is with new black leather cushions.  The remaining photos were taken with the old cushions.

Photos of these chairs can be found on page 80 of "The Early Work of Gustav Stickley"

Buy the pair for $3500.

The Rocker #2625  inventory No. A880  $1,950.00

Single peg at the top of the back leg.

Typical Lifetime corbel, 8" long.

The chair to the left is a Lifetime #680-1/2.  It is 41" tall.  The chair featured below is a version of this chair that is 3" shorter with a shorter corbel.  This chair is not identified in the Lifetime catalog so I do not have a model number.

The #680-1/2 can be found on page 16 of "Lifetime Furniture, the Cloister Styles" by Turn of the Century Editions.  (Our inventory No P-5, $9.95)

Lifetime Arm Chair Rocker

This Lifetime rocker is in near perfect condition but sadly it is not marked. It is very solid, no loose joints, no broken or cracked pieces.  But it does have typical wear for a chair nearly 80 to 90 years old.

The rocker stands 38" tall and is 23" deep at the arm and is 20" wide across the back, and 22-1/4" wide in the front.  The arms are 4" wide and stand 27" high. The front legs are mortised through the arms.  The seat is 19" deep, 19-1/2" wide and sits 19" high.  There are 4, 3" wide slats in the back and 2, 3-3/4" wide slates under each arm.  The corbels are 8" long extending down to the top of the cushion rather than to the top of the front seat rail as on the #680-1/2.

This is a shorter version of the #862-1/2 as shown in the reprinted Lifetime catalog on page

Most of the joints are mortise and tenon but only the back stretcher at the top of the back legs are pegged.

The seat is the original wood frame seat with coil springs.  It is in very good condition but has been recovered several times without removing the previous fabric.

Harden Settle Slats to the Floor

We are offering for your consideration an unsigned (label lost) Harden Settle.  The two tacks that held the label in place are still in the back seat rail right where they should be.

This is a mid size settle, larger than a loveseat but not as large as a full size.  The seat is 23" deep and 60" long.  It is 25-1/4" deep at the arm and 61" long across the outside of the back legs.  The arms are 5" wide at the front tapering to 3-1/2" wide toward the rear.  As you can see there are 12 narrow slats and 3 wide slats across the back.  The back legs are 39-1/2" high and there are 5 slats under the arms between the under side of the arms down to the low side stretcher; i.e., to the floor.  The height of the arm is 26" and the seat is 19" high.  The overall width is 70" across the outside of the arms and 64-1/2" across the outside of the front legs.

All structural joints are mortise and tenon but they are not pegged.  The joints across the back were very tight when I got it but the front and all of the side joints were loose.  These joints were taken apart, cleaned and reglued.

It appears that it was painted at one time, stripped and refinished with shellac.  There is still a little residue of red paint around the corner blocks under the seat.  None of it is visible.  The seat cushion is a four inch thick piece of good quality upholstery foam.  The cushion sits on a sheet of plywood nailed to the original coil spring seat frame.  Winner has the option of having the original spring seat rebuilt and covered in new fabric or leather.  Your choice.
